It's only worth half of that, due to the current rate of inflation! I hope that helped. If your not living close by a Carvin store, or their factory, just to let you know, they do have an incredibly easy return policy (remember I said they have great customer service!). Now, I would highly recomend, if at all possible, try and test drive one. I'm really startin to feel like I'm "jonesin" fer one of them! But alas, too much dinero for my budget, and I dont really see em in the used market much: they must be "keeper's". I really dont need to look any further for the sound everyone associates as the 'marshall' sound. Now their AC175 (electric/acoustic) I actually like! It has a much chunkier u-shaped neck (it's their only guitar offered like that) neck, and the flat fret board dont bug me as much. Also the neck is a "fast 'C' shape", and my hand start's too cramping after a while. The neck radius (the fret board) is much too flat for me. The down side for me is: Even with all these positive thing's going for the Carvin, I just cant get comfortable with it. I have a buddy who play's only Carvin bass', and gives rave reviews about there custome service, and support. What is absolutely top notch, is the customer support you will receive from Carvin. Lots, and lot's of options too choose from too: pup's, active electronics, coil splitters, locking tuners, hard tail, Wilkinson trem, Floyd Rose trem, maple fret board, rosewood fret board, pao-ferro fret board, and not to mention all the body wood's, veneer's (caps) in AAAA grain, flamed, or quilted, and body binding. Balance seems good: No heavy neck syndrome experienced. I was just about to say that because there has been some confusion about the two bridges. the cts are recessed, and use a different TOM bridge.

But I was thinking back then, if I had that, I could entice some really good players to form a 'pro' working band. Might as well have been 10M as far as I was concerned.

Like I stated before, I cant complain about the construction: It's top notch. Also, the carvin CT series features a recessed tom, but their previous guitars with the shallow TOM didnt recess, and didnt have neck angle. I can remember you could buy a serious sound reinforcement system from Carvin, with the technology of the time for about 10K. Some love those pup's, and some other's dont. They look a lil funky too me, with all those screw's. They normally use decent component's, though I dont like there three way switch for Tele's (a lot of plastic in there), and even though it's the same switch that come in most (if not all) Squiers, it's irritating that your paying a higher dollar for that type of switch.Īs to their pup's, I cant really say, cause I havent logged that much time with em (I'd really need to take em home and really play with em on my rig to give an informed opinion). It's kinda weird: the pictures in the Carvin catalog dont do them justice. They are very well put together (Good to Great Quality Workmanship), and are beautiful to look at.
